Significance of Embedded Systems in IoT, Robotics and ML

This article is to highlight significance of embedded system knowledge in popular technical domain like IoT , Robotics and ML  based applications .

IoT – Internet of Things 

It is well known about Internet journey from PC-PC , Mobile-Mobile and last one sensor/actuator level. Internet communication can’t be done without protocols and protocol requires a programmable device and hence Embedded system. If someone is working on cloud based IoT application , Embedded knowledge is not mandatory but having Embedded background can help to understand the overall system behavior. IoT applications starts from wearables , Smart Home , Smart Neighborhood , Smart City , Agriculture , Retail , Industry etc. We provide a Getting Started course for First year engineering students. Robotics

      I had a discussion with 25yrs experienced Mechanical Engineer regarding Robot . He was very much sure that Robot is just mechanical application. It is true that without mechanical level design methodology we can’t make Robot but at the same time it is also true that we need motor control algorithms to move it and sensors , camera, mic, speaker etc. All this intelligence part can’t be done without programmable device and become Embedded system. Machine Learning

It has two parts . The most challenging part depends on algorithms for creating and training a model .
